Modelling for Evolutionary Biology - Summer School

This summer school offers hands-on training in mathematical and computational modelling applied to evolutionary biology and ecology. You’ll get the opportunity to build modelling skills using modern mathematical approaches and widely used computational tools such as individual-based simulations.

Along the way, we’ll tackle questions about the evolution of social behaviour, life-history, and interactions between species. The aim is to help you:

  • Get comfortable with the fundamentals of modelling for evolutionary biology, especially invasion analyses
  • Grasp key concepts behind adaptation
  • Learn how to turn a biological scenario into a formal model
  • Practise communicating modelling results to other biologists

Participants will learn to analyse complex evolutionary and ecological dynamics and to choose the model best suited to their research questions.
